Ravyn Lenae x Childish Gambino Reflect on "One Wish"
The latest single lifted from ‘Bird’s Eye.’
With her Bird’s Eye release date approaching, Ravyn Lenae is continuing to unearth singles from the dreamy sophomore delivery. The latest cut – entitled “One Wish” – features Childish Gambino, fresh off his Bando Stone & The New World LP, and focuses on the songstress’s relationship with her father.
“‘One Wish’ is one of the most important songs on the album because it highlights the complex relationship I’ve had with my Dad,” she explained in a statement.
“The lyrics remember my 10th birthday and feeling upset that he couldn’t make it. It was important for me to address these built-up emotions in song in order for us to now be on a beautiful path of genuinely learning [about] each other and rekindling. Something valuable I’ve learned is being able to really humanize my loved ones and understand the context around people more deeply. I love you Dad and so happy we’re here.”
Arriving as the fourth single from the album – joining “Dream Girl” with Ty Dolla $ign, “Love Me Not” and “Love Is Blind” – “One Wish” also features a cinematic music video. Directed by Andre Muir, the visual immerses viewers in Lenae’s journey from adolescence until now.
