LEGO Technic Reveals Mercedes G-Class Set
With 2,891 pieces, the design includes a six-cylinder in-line piston engine, a functioning steering wheel, an opening tailgate and more.
After delivering a buildable McLaren P1 earlier this week, LEGO Technic is back with an all-new entry in its Ultimate Car Concept Series—the brand’s sub-label dedicated to remastering the world’s best sports cars as 1:8 collectibles. Celebrating the vehicle’s 45th anniversary, LEGO has recreated the Mercedes-Benz G 500 PROFESSIONAL Line model car with 2,891 pieces.
Measuring 8.5 inches high, 16.5 inches long and eight inches wide, the design features a six-cylinder in-line piston engine under the car’s hood, as well as a gearbox with drive, neutral and reverse settings.
The toy car is also equipped with a functioning steering wheel, two different locks, an opening tailgate and hood, and a detailed interior modeled after the real-life version’s luxe finishes. Elsewhere, LEGO included classic accessories like a ladder, spare wheel and roof rack.
The Mercedes-Benz G 500 is only the latest entry in LEGO’s ever-expanding Ultimate Car Concept Series. The label also houses a buildable Ferrari Daytona SP3, Emirates Team New Zealand AC75 Yacht, Porsche 911 RSR and more.
LEGO Technics’ Mercedes-Benz G 500 PROFESSIONAL Line model is now available for pre-order on the brand’s webstore for $249.99 USD. The set will begin shipping on August 1. Take a look at the design in the gallery above.
