The new ‘Call of Duty' Fried Chicken Gun Makes Your Enemies Taste Finger-Lickin’ Good

The leaked addition to ‘CoD: Warzone Mobile’ drew comparisons to Fortnite for its silly nature.

Call of Duty is set to release an “Extra Crispy” gun that allows users to turn their enemies into fried chicken. Exclusive to the Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile game, the wacky weapon marks a further departure from the serious tone of the military video game franchise after playful skins like Snoop Dogg or Jigsaw were added in past seasons. News of the weapon was first leaked earlier this week when data miners discovered the trailer that showed the gun’s full capabilities.

When players damage an enemy enough to eliminate them while using the Fried Chicken Gun, the enemy is engulfed by a fried chicken shell before splitting into multiple pieces of fried chicken. The “inspect” animation for the weapon is equally as bizarre, as the player cooks a raw chicken on the gun’s barrel before eating it whole.

The eccentric addition was met with swift backlash from longtime fans drawn to the realistic settings and gameplay the Call of Duty franchise is known for. Comparisons to Fortnite were immediately made as the competing multiplayer game is known for its nonsensical, out-of-this-world gameplay.

Some fans feel that the franchise is being watered down with these fun additions, while some don’t mind the mobile game becoming a vessel to play around with the Call of Duty format as it was introduced as a competitor to Fortnite in 2020.

This weapon is not the first unrealistic addition to the game as collaborations with hit franchises Fallout and The Boys came to Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Mobile. The Boys 2023 collaboration introduced the show’s Compound V which gave players superpowers in Warzone Mobile while the Fallout collaboration brought the franchise’s post-apocalyptic world to Modern Warfare 3 last month.

The Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile “Extra Crispy” gun has not been officially revealed but is rumored to be released soon.
