Since its 1948 establishment, Land Rover has been heralded as an automotive leader in off-road-oriented vehicles, without comprising style. Out of the lot, the Land Rover Defender has been one of the automaker’s signature models, which was first introduced in 1983. Land Rover then decided to revive the model in 2020 and since then it has once again soared into popularity – even appearing in films like 2021’s No Time to Die. Now the British car manufacturer is adding to the lineup with its new off-road-ready Defender OCTA.

Leaning into the history of the Defender, the new model maintains its off-road performance, while still keeping the luxurious stylings the Land Rover name is akin to. But what stands out about OCTA is that it’s the most powerful Defender ever made. What gives the flagship SUV its strength is a 4.4L Twin Turbo mild-hybrid V8 engine. Moreover, it produces 626 hp and 533 lb-ft of torque. To top it off, the SUV goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and has a 155 mph top speed.

The SUV has also been updated with larger front brakes, 20 t0 22 inch wheel and tire packages, an extra 1.1 inches of ground clearance and a 2.7-inch wider track. Other exterior modifications include an updated grille and bumper, a graphite-finished aluminum under shield, yellow marker lights and a special OCTA drive mode.

Take a closer look at the new build in the gallery above. Starting at £145,300 GBP / $153,475 USD, the Land Rover Defender OCTA is available now.
