Bob Dylan Set To Release 417 Songs As Part of a 27-CD Live Recording Box Set
The legendary singer-songwriter gives fans the anticipated recordings after a 50-year wait.

Bob Dylan has announced a massive 27-CD box set featuring 417 unreleased renditions of his songs. Bob Dylan – The 1974 Live Recordings is a compilation of live recordings from his historic 1974 tour with The Band — his return to performing after an eight-year-long hiatus induced by a motorcycle accident — to commemorate its 50th anniversary. The set is mainly divided into a one-show-per-disk format (besides the final performance, which is split into two disks) and includes liner notes by journalist and critic Elizabeth Nelson.
133 tracks are mixed from the original 16-track tapes and every surviving soundboard recording is included in this set. The singer also released a live version of “Forever Young” performed in Seattle on February 9, 1974, as the first single from this large project.
Meanwhile, the vinyl The 1974 Live Recordings – The Missing Songs From Before the Flood, is a three-record release that will offer the songs that didn’t make it onto Dylan’s 1974 live album, Before The Flood. Third Man Records is releasing this colored vinyl on its mail-order service, The Vault.
The 1974 Live Recordings CD Box Set retails for $129.98 USD and is available to pre-order here. You can listen to the new version of “Forever Young” below.
