A deluxe edition of Ariana Grande‘s eternal sunshine is in the works, although fans will have to wait quite a while for its release.

During her recent appearance on Shut Up Evan, the artist confirmed the deluxe’s existence while also clarifying that it won’t be releasing any time soon. Grande explained that she wants the original to “live in this current state a little while longer,” as well as take her time in executing the “vision for this deluxe and make sure that it’s worth the wait and as special” as it could be. “With time, I’ve been inspired to write more songs and inclined to do this deluxe,” she continued. “I’m really tempted to put a creative button on this storytelling, and I have a lot of ideas. It’s an idea that’s become something I can’t not do.” She also touched on a specific untitled “final song” as one of her favorites she’s ever written.

Grande’s promo tour for the upcoming movie adaptation of Wicked will also be her priority, however, as it is set to release later this year. “I’ll let [the deluxe] be a surprise, but I wouldn’t say any time super soon,” she said of a possible release date. “I’m also trying to navigate the timing of the Wicked of it all, because I really want to give my entire self to that when it’s time to shift gears. I’m working on it constantly, and I’ll have more information on timing soon.”

eternal sunshine was released in March 2024 and marked Grande’s first full-length release since 2020 — giving herself a well-deserved break after releasing an album in 2018, 2019 and 2020. The record went on to debut at No. 1 to become her sixth chart-topping effort.
