Nissan’s R35 generation GT-R will be driving off into the sunset after 17 years. The 2+2 car debuted in 2007 as a successor to the company’s Nissan Skyline GT-R and part of its goal to create a state-of-the-art sports car.

Over the past nearly two decades, the R35 GT-R has received several facelifts and limited edition releases. Paying homage to the car for a final time before its discontinuation, Nissan has created two special editions for the 2024 GT-R, the T-spec Takumi Edition and Skyline Edition.

The T-spec Takumi Edition nods to Nissan’s roots in Japan, with the word “takumi” meaning a master craftsperson who has honed their skills over several decades. Nissan says it has four takumi at its plant in Yokohama who have overseen the assemblement of the twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 GT-R VR38DETT engine. As a tribute, the engine badge will feature red-etched writing and a gold VIN badge. The T-space Takumi Edition also comes in a striking dark purple with an interior deep green trim, along with new carbon-ceramic brakes and gold-painted wheels.

With the Skyline Edition, Nissan takes the name of the car’s predecessor and introduces it to the US for the first time. A pigmented blue color was inspired by Japan’s skylines, paired with a blue interior. The paint job is particularly nostalgic, given the “Bayside Blue” shade was once commonplace throughout the model line but retired after the R34-generation GT-R.

The T-spec Takumi Edition retails for $151,090 USD, while the Skyline Edition runs for $131,090 USD. Less than 200 units of each car will be available for the special release, with models expected to arrive in the US this Summer.
