The FootJoy Red Clay Premiere Series Honors the US Open
Inspired by the red sands of North Carolina.
Ever since the beginning of 2023, FootJoy‘s Wilcox silhouette, a member of the Premiere Series, has been the brand’s go-to for its NRG program. The first to arrive was the Metalwood Studio collab with its faux snakeskin overlay, and since then FootJoy has continued to experiment with different materials to dress up the classic brogue detailed golf shoe. It’s no surprise that for this year’s US Open at Pinehurst, a venue that oozes throwback energy, FootJoy has delivered a shoe that’s as timeless as the Number 2 course itself.
Tapping into local flavor, the outsoles of the shoe match the red clay of Pinehurst and the surrounding North Carolina Sandhills, and that quintessential red sand is once again in play for this week’s competitors thanks to the 2011 renovation by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. The navy blue basket weave saddle and heel sections, on the other hand, add an element of old time craftsmanship while hinting at patriotism if not necessarily rubbing it in your face. Those lucky enough to get a pair in-hand will also notice other premium details like the metal eyelets, pebble leather upper and soft leather lining.
The pair will release on June 11 via FootJoy, and keep an eye on the action from Pinehurst to see which FootJoy athletes decide to wear these in competition.
