Update: Earlier this year, we caught a glance at the Fear of God Athletics 1 in a “Black Toe” colorway. Now, it’s been properly unveiled alongside two other styles for the brand’s early August launch. Described previously below, this “Black Toe” rendition pairs a “Sesame” upper with “Carbon” at the toe box while the Three Stripes are visible at each side and “FEAR OF GOD” branding adorns the heel of the midsole. Combining with the shoe is another release of the Los Angeles sneaker, which similarly sports “Sesame” across its suede and textile upper. Its ripple sole arrives in off-white, matching the midsole that also carries “FEAR OF GOD” branding in black at the heel. Rounding out the range is the duo’s take on the Adilette Slide, offering a “Cream White” finish that is contrasted by the Three Stripes in black at the forefoot strap. Favoring a more subtle approach to the “FEAR OF GOD” branding, the tonal text is embossed at the lateral heel’s midsole. Release is set to take place on August 3 via adidas, with prices starting at $100 USD for the slides, going up to $170 USD for the Los Angeles sneaker and being rounded out at $250 USD for the Fear of God Athletics 1.

Original Story: Late last year, Jerry Lorenzo debuted his long-awaited Athletics capsule with adidas. Joining Fear of God and ESSENTIALS, the third tier in the Los Angeles-based designer’s brand rolodex is a slight nod to Lorenzo’s Christian faith, referencing the Trinity of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. “I wanted our brand to be complete in and of itself,” Lorenzo previously told Hypebeast.

The Fear of God Athletics 1 was a notable standout within the initial collection, a street meets sports approach to a classic basketball mid-top sneaker. Having released in black, white, camel and desert yellow, a new grey iteration with a black toe box just joined the mix. The forthcoming sneaker will boast a premium knit upper with a neoprene collar in a warm gray colorway, offering a snug glove-like fit that is accentuated by Three Stripes that cage around the base and loop into the laces.

Rounding the shoe out is a black toe box atop a translucent off-white midsole. The Fear of God Athletics 1 “Black Toe” doesn’t have a release date yet, but expect the sneaker to drop for $250 USD on adidas and select retailers later this year.
