Awake NY x Happy Socks Revive the ’80s Gym Sock for New Collaboration
A preppy, cushioned sock with a reinforced heel and toe.

Awake NY and Happy Socks have joined forces once again. The brands last teamed up back in November for a capsule inspired by the sport of fencing, a collaboration Awake’s founder Angelo Baque described as “the perfect opportunity to create an unexpected moment of worlds colliding.”
For the latest expansion of their partnership, Awake NY and Happy Socks have reimagined the “classic wardrobe staple” of athletic socks. Evoking a high school gym class in the 1980s, the socks are a modernized and elevated take on a niche corner of the Americana aesthetic.
Woven the 9-gauge knitting machines, which are used specifically for bulkier yarn, the ribbed socks have a thick and cushioned feel, along with a reinforced heel and toe to prevent holes. The socks arrive in a crisp white with a band around the upper ankle, available in blue, green and red, and embroidered with the Awake NY logo.
Ahead of the release, the Awake NY crew headed to a local park to photograph the socks in action.
Beginning May 21, the Awake NY x Happy Socks athletic socks are available online and in select retail stores for $28 USD.
