The Air Jordan 1 Mule Golf "Nothing But Net" Is Pure 90s Nostalgia

In a now famous commercial from 1993 unofficially known as Nothing But Net, the Chicago Bulls’ Michael Jordan and his rival from the Boston Celtics Larry Bird duked it out in a game of HORSE, with each challenge becoming increasingly outlandish. Over 30 years later, the sight of Jordan in his zany patterned pullover is still a defining image of basketball in 90s, so much so that Jordan Brand recalled the moment twice with an AJ7 and AJ1 Low “Nothing But Net.” Now for the third time, or the metaphorical “R” in HORSE, the brand is introducing the nostalgic pattern to one of its footwear staples.

Consisting of blue, yellow, red and purple, the zig-zagging pattern was also worn by Jordan during the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, and its first official appearance on the golf course sees it landing on the new AJ1 Mule Golf. Having already debuted in two comparatively safe colorways, the slip-on silhouette has generated a fair amount of conversation among the golf community, so its loudest rendition yet is sure to attract just as much attention. Looking at the laceless upper, the colorful pattern anoints the various overlays, while the underlying panels, toe boxes and midsoles are snow white. Navy accents arrive on the Swooshes, Jumpman “GOLF” logos and sockliners, while the spikeless outsoles and insoles are entirely navy.
