Scary Kittles’ “Kaman” Clogs Are a Quirky Homage to the NBA Star
The first batch of the basketball-themed shoes is already sold out.
Scary Kittles is paying homage to NBA’s Chris Kaman, who played in the league for 13 years before retiring in 2016. Since then, he’s largely disappeared from the public and operates a farm in rural Michigan.
Kaman was known for his occasionally off-beat antics — i.e. the infamous cat pic — and the “Kaman” clogs are a fittingly unconventional nod to his legacy, if only in name. After going viral when teased by Scary Kittles in February, the first batch of the Kaman dropped earlier today and is already sold out. A second run is available for pre-order in a limited range of sizes, priced at $150 USD a pair.
The clogs themselves are composed of a leather upper emulating a basketball and lined with a soft green interior. A strap and buckle on the top allow the wearer to adjust to fit.
In an interview with GQ, it was revealed that the founders of Scary Kittles, Jack Herzog and Evan More, are childhood friends and run the brand out of New York. Herzog also works as a senior designer at KidSuper.
