Founded by Warren Cochrane in 2020, BLOOMFIELD.WORKS® looks to the powerful impact of the Black diaspora to fuel its creation of culturally cognizant apparel. With an appetite for graphic design — whether it be groove dancing, airbrush styles popularized in the 80s, or explorations of spirituality and intimacy— the brand is inspired by “Black motifs, music and cultural reference points,” which has come to life across tees, casual button-down shirts, pants, shorts, and more, all of which the brand will have on hand at Hypebeast Flea.
Explain your brand to people who may not know you yet.
BLOOMFIELD.WORKS® is a contemporary expression of impactful Black motifs, music and cultural reference points. We aim to put a modern twist on classic styles to outfit those who value community building and the reverance of Black impact.
What about New York inspires you the most?
The ability to recontextualize anything is a New York-specific superpower. Whether it be clothing, design, art the ability to take something in one context and give it a second life is one of the amazing things I love about New York.
What have you got planned at Hypebeast Flea?
It’s gonna be hot, and we want to be maneuvering outside a bit, so we’ll be introducing some great tees and jerseys. From a story perspective, we’re always rooted in dancehall culture, but we’ve been obsessing the Dancehall Queens and their impact on music as a whole. So you’ll see those motifs a bit in our offerings as well.
What other vendors are you looking forward to checking out at Hypebeast Flea?
We’re big into visual storytelling and photography so photodom. is a must. And Lichen is one of my favorites as I’ve been on my interior design journey so I’ll be tapped in with them as well.
