With the 2024 Watches & Wonders well on its way, Rolex recently released its upcoming novelties. Amongst the six models set to release this year, which included the GMT-Master II, Day-Date, Perpetual 1908, Deepsea, Daytona and Sky-Dweller in various builds and sizes, Rolex also announced that it would be discontinuing the Daytona Le Mans REF: 126529LN.

Having released just last year, the white gold Rolex “Le Mans” just got more rare. It was released in honor of 100 years of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, an endurance-focused sports car race that is held annually near the town of Le Mans, France. To commemorate the race, the watch was revealed in a reverse panda dial that included a black ceramic tachymeter scale with the “100” mark indicated in red.

The watch was released last June and according to Hodinkee, is expected to mark the shortest production for any modern Rolex ever. Disappointing to some, the watch will now be more exclusive than ever. For horophiles the Le Mans was a nod to the history of the race but also the part Rolex played as timekeeper in the cultural context of being a modern motorsports chronograph. Since the watch is no longer coming back, fans will likely have to look out for the timepiece at auctions.
