A Look Inside London’s New Co-Working Space Designed by THISS Studio and Mitre and Mondays
Crafting an ambiance where ideas thrive, with a bespoke collection of furniture, lighting and shelving.
In the heart of London’s vibrant Shoreditch, THISS Studio, in partnership with Mitre and Mondays, has unveiled a collection of bespoke furniture and lighting for Common Knowledge’s new office and coworking space. This collaboration was initiated by Ben Blackburn of Common Knowledge, aiming to forge a creative haven for new recording artists and ideas. Initially fragmented in its design approach, the project found its rhythm under THISS Studio’s leadership, incorporating Mitre and Mondays and Noatune into a unified creative endeavor.
This collection emerges as a bold statement against the music industry’s often austere and inaccessible spaces. Designed to function as a dynamic social hub, the furniture, lighting, and shelving foster a sense of belonging and community, much like a home away from home. The challenge of architectural and structural constraints birthed a modular setup that promotes knowledge exchange among music professionals.
The pieces, boasting a future nostalgia, celebrate the craftsmanship of their creation, from robotic-tool sculpted cork objects to precision-lasered aluminum plates. With a focus on sustainability, the furniture is designed to be demountable, catering to the space’s potential future needs while reducing environmental impact. The collection stands as a testament to the fusion of functionality and craftsmanship, providing a foundation for creativity and collaboration within the music community.
