AMIDA Makes a Comeback With a Retro-Futuristic Digitrend Timepiece
The Take-off Edition is introduced as a collector’s series, available only within a limited pre-order period.

At Baselworld back in 1976, AMIDA debuted its Digitrend driver’s watch — a pioneering timepiece that disrupted the then-watchmaking scene with its futuristic design. The Grenchen-based watch brand has been around since the mid-1920s, but instead of playing safe, the brand prided itself on its innovation and thirst for the future. Making its comeback now, AMIDA is relaunching its iconic timepiece with a modern twist.
Reimagined and refined, the new Digitrend Take-off Edition is introduced as a collector’s series. The new timepiece is presented in the original’s emblematic silhouette, sporting a stainless steel case shape borrowing cues from the frame of a futuristic sports car. Just like the original model, the new reference comes with no dial. The reading of time is presented on a patented light-reflecting display (LRD) with a unidirectional jumping hour and trailing minutes.
In commemorating the Digitrend’s revival, the caseback features an exclusive engraved design depicting a rocket traversing across Earth. The lower section of the graphic coincides with a distinctly shaped window, offering a peek into its Soprod’s Newton caliber, a self-winding movement with 44 hours of power reserve.
Starting from May 28, the timepiece will be available for a limited pre-order window. More information is to be unveiled via AMIDA’s official social channels and website.
