‘Fallout’ Renewed for Second Season at Amazon
Episode one’s viewership counted in 1.5 million households in its first five days.
Amazon’s post-apocalyptic Fallout series will be returning for a second run. The news arrives just a week after the series premiered on the streaming platform with an impressive 1.5 million households watching the first episode within five days of its debut.
“Jonah, Lisa, Geneva, and Graham have captivated the world with this ground-breaking, wild ride of a show,” Amazon MGM Studios’ Jennifer Salke said, announcing the second season. “The bar was high for lovers of this iconic video game and so far we seem to have exceeded their expectations, while bringing in millions of new fans to the franchise.”
Based on Bethesda’s long-running video game franchise of the same name, the live-action Fallout was helmed by Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner and produced by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins and Kyle MacLachlan comprise the main cast.
Although the first season was shot mostly in New York and Utah, filming is expected to move to California for the new season thanks to a $25 million USD tax credit from the state. Fallout’s budget for the season is said to be around $153 million USD, the largest of any of Amazon’s productions.
Set 200 years after a nuclear war, Fallout centers on the survivors of luxury fallout shelters, forced to return to the destroyed landscape they fled long ago.
