'Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection' Revives the Franchise's Classic Strategy Games
The 2004 and 2005 titles have been updated for play on the PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
Lucasfilm Games will be bringing two classic Star Wars titles to a myriad of consoles next month. The Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection includes 2004’s Star Wars Battlefront and its 2005 sequel Star Wars Battlefront II.
In the contemporary collection, both of the games have been revamped for compatibility with modern consoles, offering online play modes for up to 64 people and Steam Deck support.
In addition to the necessary tweaks, developers have updated the originals with new maps, characters and quests. Jabba’s Palace is among the new explorable maps, as well as the planet Rhen Var’s harbor and citadel.
Asajj Ventress and Kit Fisto have been added as bonus heroes. As for challenges, the Galactic Conquest allows players to assemble a team of troops to strategically conquer the galaxy.
“Jump into thrilling firefights across massive battlefields on the ground, in the air, and in space as the Empire, Rebellion, Republic, and the Separatist Alliance,” the collection’s description reads.
“Choose an array of unique classes, pilot a multitude of vehicles, and play as iconic heroes and villains from multiple eras of the saga in solo, local, and online play.”
Launching on March 14, the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC, with all versions priced at $35 USD.
