Simone Rocha's Subversive World Is the Subject of a New Book From Rizzoli
Chronicling the subversive brand’s narrative and Rocha’s personal affinity for painter Louise Bourgeois.

Simone Rocha’s romantic creations have captivated the womenswear industry over the past decade, presenting a unique interplay of the feminine and gothic.
From being named the British Fashion Awards’ 2016 Womenswear Designer of the Year to serving as Jean Paul Gaultier’s guest designer for Spring/Summer 2024, the Irish designer’s namesake brand has been lauded for its subversion of typical womenswear silhouettes with darker theatrical and historically-inspired elements.
The first comprehensive book on Rocha will be arriving from Rizzoli later this year. Simply titled Simone Rocha, the book is billed as a “long, pensive gaze into Rocha’s subversive world, one heavily inspired by the work of Louise Bourgeois.”
The designer has frequently spoken about the French painter’s touchingly personal work and its lasting impact on her work. Along with offering insight into Bourgeois’ influence, the 288-page book will also feature contributions from Cindy Sherman, Petra Collins, Tim Blanks and Ed Templeton, as well as runway, editorial and backstage images.
Rocha was born and raised in Dublin and graduated with her BA from the city’s National College of Art and Design. She went on to earn a Fashion MA at Central Saint Martins College and launched her eponymous brand at London Fashion Week in 2010.
Rizzoli’s Simone Rocha will launch in September 2024, priced at $85 USD in the US and at £65 GBP in the UK.
