NIGO continues to intermingle the stylings of Japan and France in KENZO‘s latest foray. In the label’s striking Spring/Summer 2024 collection, entitled “City Pop Paris,” NIGO pulls from distinct Parisian architecture and aesthetics to envision a cohesive yet captivating ode to the French fashion and cultural apex.
“From Paris to Tokyo, the KENZO Spring/Summer 2024 collection transcends time and cross-cultural boundaries,” the brand wrote in an Instagram caption.
City Pop Paris was initially shown on the Passerelle Debilly, the footbridge connecting Palas de Tokyo to the Eiffel Tower via the River Seine. For the lookbook, models flexed the poppy range amidst some of the most grandiose Parisian interiors.
Keizo Kitajima led the campaign’s imagery, with Frank Lebon behind the complementing moving imagery components; they also spearheaded KENZO’s Fall/Winter 2023 campaign, which began bridging the gap between Paris and Japan. For this campaign, Lebon asked the cast of the shoot to illustrate what they loved most about the city of Paris.
In City Pop Paris, NIGO reimagined the Japanese City Pop movement in the context of the Parisian ethos, positioning models from all around the world in various streets and salons throughout Rue Vivienne – where KENZO’s Maison is located – among other pivotal landmarks.
Models are also seen repping the range in Place des Victoires – where KENZO’s historical Paris flagship was located – as well as around the Arc de Triomphe and in the Hôtel de Soyecourt where Karl Lagerfeld once resided.
