Danish menswear label Palmes has unveiled a brand new location in Copenhagen’s vibrant Carlsberg Byen district. Dubbed, Palmes Center Court, the new-opened hybrid space spans 135 square meters, comprising an exhibition space, studio while also serving the brand’s flagship store.

Following a previous collaboration with Frederik Gustav, Palmes enlisted the design duo again for their artistic input, but this time, it was to design the new hybrid space. Palmes Center Court naturally extends its surrounding industrial and raw aesthetic, paired with warmer sentiments. The concrete framework and visible steel elements establish a cool, structural tone, while the warm hues of Okoume wood create a balanced contrast, evoking a sense of nature throughout the space.

The design employs hand-sanded polycarbonate sheets integrated into Okoume wood frames, allowing natural light to filter through floor-to-ceiling windows and into the different areas of the space — thus enhancing the sense of grandeur while seamlessly letting light flow through Palmes Center Court.

Created as a home and clubhouse for the Palmes Tennis Society, the space merges elements of tennis with a playful touch, balancing court references with a raw, industrial vibe. Subtle nods to the world of tennis are implemented throughout the retail space, featuring a curved wall reminiscent of tennis club hitting walls and display cases with tennis court clay and a bonsai tree. The workspace includes Muuto’s Linear System Series work furnishings and custom shelving by Frederik Gustav. In addition to that, a specially-commissioned painting by Danish painter Frederik Nystrup-Larsen is displayed in the shop area.

Take a look around the space in the gallery above.
