Seiko Expands Its “Japanese Zen Garden” Series With Two New Presage watches
Coming in Fern Green and Gold-Toned Sand.
Seiko has added two new Presage watches to its “Japanese Zen Garden” series, a collection of timepieces that capture the essence of traditional Japanese Karesansui gardens. Known for their harmony and mindfulness, Karesansui is a distinctive style of Japanese gardens, characterized by carefully arranged rocks, moss, pruned trees, and raked gravel or sand to represent rippling water.
Typically found in Zen Buddhist temples, Karesansui gardens are designed to imitate the essence of nature and aid meditation, rather than replicating its actual appearance. The Presage “Japanese Zen Garden” series reflects this serene inspiration on its dial, combining timeless aesthetics with Seiko’s renowned mechanical precision.
Revealed in two colorways, one variant arrives in a Fern Gren dial with a lush, three-dimensional pattern that mimics the raked sand designs. On the other hand, the Gold-Toned Sand variant boasts a light, glittering pattern inspired by the golden hues found in Japanese temple gardens. Both dials are protected by dual-curve sapphire crystal glass and feature an open-heart display at 9 o’clock, showcasing Seiko’s in-house automatic caliber.
Elegantly curved hands and the distinctive Karesansui patterns provide a serene yet striking design for these timepieces. The intricate details on the dial create an illusion of a movement tinged with nature’s colors, symbolizing the essence of the gardens. Prices range from £480 – £520 GBP (approx. $609 – $660 USD), the two new Presage “Japanese Zen Garden” timepieces are available to pre-order via the Seiko Boutique website.
