OMEGA has introduced the Speedmaster Pilot into its emblematic lineup. Despite being named under the Speedmaster umbrella, the new timepiece borrowed some of the design cues from the “Flightmaster”  — a vintage model that dates back back to 1969 and was specifically tailored for pilots.

Clad in stainless steel, the Speedmaster Pilot features a modern case shape with a diameter that measures precisely 40.85mm. It boasts a matte finish to minimize light reflections, while its aluminum bezel ring maintains the Speedmaster heritage with “Dot Over Ninety” and “Diagonal to Seventy” marks on the tachymeter scale.

The watch’s individuality shines through its grained matte-black dial, where white Super-LumiNova on the hour and minute hands ensure full visibility in the dark. The matte-black central chronograph hand with a varnished orange airplane tip, along with twin subdials with opaline centers and beveled edges add to its distinct look.

The 3 o’clock subdial is designed to resemble a “burn rate” indicator in aircraft cockpits, while the 9 o’clock subdial features a small seconds display with a target/sight aesthetic, a varnished matte-yellow hand and a blue artificial horizon, all inspired by cockpit instruments.

Geared with 60 hours of power reserve, the new reference runs on OMEGA’s METAS-approved and Master Chronometer-certified 9900 caliber, a self-winding movement featuring a column wheel and Co-Axial escapement. This movement is housed behind a metallic caseback, stamped with the traditional Speedmaster Seahorse medallion and engraved with water-resistance details.

Now available via OMEGA, the Speedmaster Pilot features a retail price of $9,500 USD. The watch can be worn on a stainless steel bracelet or on an additional grey NATO strap.
