Insta360 Links Up with Leica Again to Launch the Ace Pro 2 Action Camera
It shoots 8K video at 120fps and has improved battery over the previous model for up to 50% longer shooting time.
Insta360 has updated its Ace action camera series with the launch of the new Insta360 Ace Pro 2, building on its partnership with Leica from last year. The new camera takes the best features found in the first model and adds to or improves them to deliver “serious performance upgrades,” according to the brand.

The Ace Pro 2 features an upgraded 1/1.3” 8K sensor that provides 13.5 stops of dynamic range, making it capable of handling the most challenging light situations. Its lens is made by Leica – specifically, a Leica Summarit lens with a 157-degree field of view – and promises high quality captures, something that setts the camera apart from others on the market.
Insta360 is also claiming an industry-leading innovation with the Ace Pro 2, as it features a dual-chip design that elevates both the camera’s performance and its image quality. One of these chips, the Pro Imaging Chip, is dedicated to handling image processing, including reducing noise in photos and video. The other is a 5nm AI Chip that the brand says will support the Pro Imaging Chip, but which has the primary purpose of improving the overall user experience. The dual chip design also enables the camera to capture things in more technically demanding ways, , such 4K 120fps slow motion or 4K 60fps with Active HDR (high dynamic range).
There’s a new Wind Guard that helps to keep wind and other external noise at a minimum, as well as a new and removable Lens Guard that will help to provide users with peace of mind. Both of these accessories can be attached to and removed from the camera with ease thanks to its magnetic mounting system. The Ace Pro 2 features a new, bigger 1800mAh battery for longer shooting, as well as new modes such as Endurance Mode that further help to extend battery life between charges, providing “50% longer runtime at 4K 30fps” over the previous model, according to Insta360 .
Insta360 has also broadened its camera’s compatibility with many of the most popular sports applications, including Garmin, Apple, COROS, and more. Users can also downlaod the Insta360 app and download their information directly between devices.
“Our goal was to refine and enhance the groundbreaking features of the original Insta360 Ace Pro to deliver an unparalleled experience,” says JK Liu, founder of Insta360. “We are confident these upgrades establish a new industry standard. Not only do they bring significant advances in AI, they empower creators to capture what was always impossible with other action cameras, opening the door to unprecedented creative potential.”
