Wales Bonner x adidas Originals FW24 Pays Tribute to the Home of Hip-Hop

Wales Bonner‘s unique spin on adidas‘s classic silhouettes has solidified her status among the boundary-pushing streetwear designers of the day. Introducing a new feel to adidas with influences from British subculture, her Caribbean roots and the global African diaspora, the designer returns with a new collection paying homage to the home of Hip-Hop.

The Rennell Medrano-shot campaign set in the historic NYC neighborhood of Harlem sets the backdrop for the collection, led by all new variants of the adidas Superstar and Samba models, supported by a range of retro-tinged streetwear essentials.

Bonner continues to interpolate on the classic Samba model with two patent leather colorways embossed with a crocodile texture. Uppers are offered in a warm toffee colorway and a deep indigo colorway, while contrast is provided by cream-hued basket-weave tongues and topstitches at the heel.

The new Samba Millenium goes a step further with three unique colorways that bear two-toned uppers consisting of smooth leather up to the quarter and crocodile-printed leather at the heel. Last, but surely not least, Bonner introduces an elevated version of the iconic Superstar model, completely reimagined with the recurring reptilian leather finish, patent leather stripes, and a satin lining.

The line of casual, yet bold apparel recalls proportions and fits popular in the 1970s, drawing parallels to the fashions of Hip-Hop’s forefathers. Groovy floral prints are found on shorts, tanks and cropped polo shirts, while solid-colored tracksuits come in saturated tones of tangerine orange and turquoise blue. Departing from today’s “quiet luxury” for a more nostalgic vibe, the adidas logo is enlarged on graphic tees, jackets and hoodies.

The Wales Bonner x adidas Originals FW24 collection will be available globally on October 24 at adidas‘ web store, via the CONFIRMED app and select retailers.
