Powers Pleasant Presents Star-Studded Sophomore LP, 'Life Sucks'
Enlisting an impressive roster of 21 contributors, including Denzel Curry, A$AP Ferg and AUDREY NUNA.
Production powerhouse Powers Pleasant has lifted the curtain on his long-awaited sophomore project. The Brooklyn-based producer has tapped a total of 21 artists for Life Sucks, with contributions coming from Melt My Eyez See Your Future collaborator Denzel Curry, as well as Joey Bada$$, DC The Don, Saba, A$AP Ferg and many others.
Spanning 13 tracks, Powers Plesant also enlists Hannah Mundine, Armani Caesar, Meechy Darko, Soulja Livin Tru, $not, Dro Kenji, Mike Dimes, AG Club, AUDREY NUNA, P-Lo, Guapdad4000, Jasiah, Tkay Maidza, CJ FLy, Nyck Caution and Aaron Rose to assist. He kicked off the release with singles “Rumble” with Bada$$ and “Shmoke” with Ferg and Caesar, followed by four more singles he “crashed out and leaked” earlier this week.
The producer calls the album a “reflection of [his] experiences and influences, shaped by the chaos in [his] life.”
“I’ve always absorbed my surroundings and turned them into art. While making this album, life really did suck—COVID-19 was everywhere, BLM protests were happening in Brooklyn where I lived, and the future felt uncertain. In the middle of it all, I turned to creating music as my escape from depression. Surprisingly, despite the chaos, I realized life isn’t all bad—it helped me find myself and see beauty in the madness. From the high-energy tracks like ‘Rumble’ and ‘Shmoke’ to the deeper, introspective songs like ‘That’s Tough’ and ‘Know Me Now,’ Life Sucks captures the highs and lows of life.”

“My journey to this album wasn’t easy. Eight years ago, I signed a deal but didn’t own my masters. Label changes put me in limbo while making Life Is Beautiful and its sequel. Despite the struggles, I kept creating and moved to Los Angeles during the pandemic. After tough negotiations, I finally found a home at Mass Appeal, where I have both creative freedom and ownership. This album isn’t just music—it’s about resilience and staying true to your art. Life Sucks tells my story—a tough, bittersweet journey full of ups and downs.”
