COMME des GARÇONS HOMME and New Balance Introduce 860v2 With Monochrome Color Duo
Bringing new life the 2011-born runner with two pared-back greyscale colorways.
Following New Balance‘s reissue of the archival sneaker earlier this year, the Boston-based running brand continues to push new 860v2 variants and collaborations as its retro runners find appeal among a new generation. For this interpretation the COMME des GARÇONS HOMME x New Balance 860v2 streamlines the performance silhouette, toning down the materials of the body for a sleek, modern look.
While the previous reissue of the 2011 shoe boasted high contrast accents and chunky translucent mesh underlays, the COMME des GARÇONS 860v2 opts for subtle tonal variations and tight-gauge mesh underlays for an elegantly smooth effect. A mixture of embossed synthetic overlays and suede details adds an extra layer of dimension to the overall body.
The collaborators will introduce one all-black and one signature gray colorway, both featuring a white midsole with grey-and-black outsoles. In the gray colorway, darker-hued overlays and eyestays add depth, while in the black variant, the overlays stand out lightly against the pitch-black underlays. Silver lines accent the heel counters of both pairs, where a red “NB” emblem appears below the heel tab. COMME des GARÇONS branding shows prominently alongside the New Balance word mark at the head of the tongue and within the insoles.
The COMME des GARÇONS HOMME x New Balance 860v2 will be released on October 18, exclusively at select COMME des GARÇONS stores and select stockists including Dover Street Market.
