McIntosh has revealed its newest innovative audio device, the PS1K subwoofer. The high-end device, which the brand says will deliver “unmatched bass precision and power,” was created to amplify state-of-the-art home audio systems and theaters.

The PS1K is fitted with two 13-inch McIntosh drivers, both of which utilize the label’s Low Distortion High Performance (LD/HP) Magnetic Circuit Design, which is capable of maximizing power handling while lowering distortion. Both drivers operate on dual 500-watt Class D amplifiers, which produce a sizable 1000 watts of power when running in unison.

The subwoofer, which is finished with a high-gloss black facade, carbon trim and an aluminum base, also utilizes advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for clarity and rigidity. The system enlists complex carbon fiber cones to combat flex.

The device features flexible inputs and outputs, so it can be easily hooked up to any existing stereo systems or home theaters. The sound can be tweaked to fit the users’ needs with adjustable filters, parametric EQ and balanced and unbalanced connections. Plus, the brand’s Power Guard and Sentry Monitors shield the device from short circuits.

The McIntosh PS1K subwoofer will launch later this month through the brand’s retailers for $35,000 USD. Take a look at the design in the gallery above.
