Maison Margiela Unveils New "REPLICA FANTASIES" Eaux de Parfum
Unveiling three scents: “Soul of the Forest,” “Dancing on the Moon” and “Flying.”
Since the launch of its Replica fragrance line in 2012, Maison Margiela‘s REPLICA fragrance line has immersed us in worlds both familiar and far away through its scents. The olfactory imprint has unveiled a new presentation of Eaux de Parfum under its “REPLICA FANTASIES” line which consists of three new black-bottled scents: “Soul of the Forest,” “Dancing on the Moon” and “Flying.”
The three Eaux de Parfum work together to “delve into the depths of personal fantasies, imagination, and the collective subconscious,” elevating the ethos REPLICA’s FANTASIES line has embodied since its launch in 2016. “Conjuring compelling utopias and alternative universes, REPLICA FANTASIES collages together new realities, which translate into Maison Margiela’s spirit of deconstruction and reconstruction,” reads the press release.
Each fragrance is imagined by master perfumers and hones in on one “fantasy ingredient” at the epicenter of its formula. “These fantasy ingredients are composed of real, carefully selected raw materials of the finest quality, combined with the genius of master perfumers’ alchemical touch, to create a new, singularly surreal sensation.”
The first scent, “Soul of the Forest,” immerses wearers in the aromatic wilderness. Reliant on a fantasy ingredient of Mystical Wood, the fragrance also features hints of Cedarwood Essence, Patchouli Essence and Moss Accord, making for an ethereal earthy scent, or, as Master Perfumer Quentin Bisch (Givaudan) calls it, “a collision between earthly reality and dreamy wonder.”
“Dancing on the Moon” leans into it’s Moon Dust fantasy ingredient, rounding out its aromatic profile with Aldehydes Notes, Iris Notes and White Flower Bouquet. “It is an opalescent fragrance with sensual mineral undertones; a surreal, cosmic journey,” explains Master Perfumer Fanny Bal.
Rounding out the range is “Flying,” which captures the thrill of soaring through the sky with its surrealist Ozonic Cloud fantasy ingredient, bolstered by Petitgrain Essence, Orange Blossom Accord and Musks Accord. Master Perfumer Marie Salamagne (Firmenich) describes it as “a harmonious fragrance, a true freshness that was kind of airy, clean and also comforting, like a beautiful dream.”
