Netflix officially released the trailer for the upcoming murder mystery series 3 Body Problem at CES in Las Vegas. From the creators of Game of Thrones, David Benioff, D.B. Weiss and Alexander Woo have developed the series based on the 2008 novel The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin. The three are also executive producers and writers of the show. Bernadette Caulfield also serves as an EP alongside Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman and Nena Rodrigue for T-Street, the late Lin Qi, Zhao Jilong, Brad Pitt, Jeremy Kleiner and Dede Gardner.

Netflix’s synopsis for the series reads, “A young woman’s fateful decision in 1960s China reverberates across space and time into the present day. When the laws of nature inexplicably unravel before their eyes, a close-knit group of brilliant scientists join forces with an unorthodox detective to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history.” The cast consists of Jovan Adepo, John Bradley, Rosalind Chao, Liam Cunningham, Eiza González, Jess Hong, Marlo Kelly, Alex Sharp, Sea Shimooka, Zine Tseng, Saamer Usmani, Benedict Wong and Jonathan Pryce.

With an extensive cast, Netflix’s Tudum has drawn up a character guide for fans to follow throughout the series. In terms of adapting the novel to a series, Netflix writes, “What we are hoping to do is to convey the experience — if not necessarily the exact details — of the novel onto the screen. What stayed, we hope, is the sense of wonderment and the sense of scope, of scale, where the problems are no longer just the problems of an individual or even a nation, but of an entire species.”
