An initial charge against the actor was dismissed in April.

Alec Baldwin has been charged for a second time in the fatal shooting on the set of the film Rust. In 2021, Baldwin was rehearsing with a prop revolver when a live round was discharged, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

In January 2023, it was announced that Baldwin and the film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, would each be charged with involuntary manslaughter. The actor pleaded not guilty and in April, the charges against him were dropped. Gutierrez-Reed also pled not guilty and will be heading to trial in February. The film’s first assistant director Dave Halls pled guilty to a misdemeanor for failing to ensure safety on set.

As for Baldwin, a new prosecution team working on the case brought it before a grand jury in New Mexico on Friday. The jury moved to indict Baldwin – for a second time – on charges of involuntary manslaughter.

“We look forward to our day in court,” Baldwin’s lawyers Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro said in a statement, per The New York Times.

Baldwin has maintained his innocence in the shooting, saying that he was told there weren’t any live rounds in the gun, nor was there supposed to be ammunition used in filming at all. He also said that he never pulled the trigger of the revolver, a statement that prosecutors are disputing using fingerprint evidence.
