Live-Action 'One Piece' Breaks Netflix Record Set by 'Wednesday,' 'Stranger Things'
Achieving the feat just days after its premiere.
The live-action adaptation of One Piece has broken a Netflix record previously set by hit shows Wednesday and Stranger Things.
According to reports, Matt Owens and Steven Maeda’s adaptation was ranked the streamer’s No. 1 TV series in 84 countries during its first few days — surpassing the No. 1 rankings of season one of Wednesday and season four of Stranger Things in 83 countries during the first weekends of their releases.
One Piece is one of the more recent Netflix adaptations that has received positive reviews from both critics and viewers, most likely thanks to the creative involvement of original One Piece manga creator Eiichiro Oda. The series stars Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp and Taz Skylar as Sanji.
Elsewhere in entertainment, Annapurna is creating a movie adaptation of their award-winning game, Stray.
