maharishi's FW23 Campaign Flaunts Functional Workwear
The editorial spotlights the London brand’s technical codes against a strong industrial backdrop.
Continuing its exploration of industrial workwear, London-based imprint maharishi has dropped off the latest editorial in its Fall/Winter 2023 campaign. Following last month’s eccentric visuals, the Hardy Blechman-led label has returned with a fresh batch of metropolitan photographs, spotlighting its highly technical approach to fashion design.
The sartorial offering, directed by Albert Sala, pictures maharishi’s seasonal cuts in London’s striking urban environment, where the brand’s MIL-SPEC textiles are put to work. Cordura®, NYCO® and Alpex®’s waterproof fleece form several weather-resistant silhouettes, while Hanko-style prints and Pax Cultura symbols pay homage to Japanese firefighters from the Edo time period, who would wear reversible coats (called “hikeshi-banten”), with mythological creatures on their interiors for protection.
The collection also nods to construction workers’ uniforms, with Hi-Vis paneling and surplus-fabric patchwork defining a number of looks, including utilitarian trousers and bright orange coats. Meanwhile, shirting, cargos and smocks prioritize functionality, with ample pockets and durable builds.
