Cecilie Bahnsen’s partnership with ASICS has always struck the delicate balance of everyday functionality with a youthful, feminine look. The Copenhagen-based designer made waves in the sneaker and high fashion industries alike, particularly with her last release for the brand, a model of the GT-2160 that adapted the shoe into a girlish Mary Jane.

While the designer hasn’t given word on the next release from the ongoing collaboration, she previewed the latest Cecilie Bahnsen x ASICS model at her Spring/Summer 2024 showcase at Paris Fashion Week. On September 27, the brand unveiled its “We Are Water” collection, which Bahnsen said is inspired by her continuous quest to “finding the couture in the everyday.”

Models on the runway were spotted wearing an all-black GEL-QUANTUM dotted with small black flowers, each with a beaded center.

The debut of Bahnsen’s twist on the daily trainer was subtle, especially compared to some of her past designs for ASICS such as the GEL-NIMBUS 9 or the aforementioned GT-2160. It doesn’t appear that the designer altered the silhouette of the GEL-QUANTUM and simply added a few girlish embellishments.

“This one is an upcycled collaboration which we also did for the show last summer so, it’s a nod to that,” Bahnsen told Hypebae. “We also wanted to embody these very couture pieces so, there’s only a run of 50 and they are all handmade in our studio.”

Customers will have to wait to get their hands on a pair of the floral sneakers as it’ll be launching in 2024 in a “limited” run.

In other footwear news, Rider and Pedro Andrade collaborated on the FrogR, a sustainable Amazon-inspired footwear.
