Jonny Banger’s New Book Will Chart 10 Years of His British Fashion Collective, Sports Banger
Compiling photos of the brand’s shows, clothing and protests.
Jonny Banger is publishing a retrospective on his bold, occasionally anarchic, fashion collective, Sports Banger.
Sports Banger: Lifestyles of the Poor, Rich and Famous will tell the story behind the brand’s ten years, from its inception in 2013 to its current influence on British culture, style and politics. What started as a bootlegging operation has become a well-known brand, record label and a vehicle for satire and class criticism.
Created by the Sports Banger studio, the book compiles photographs of the brand’s couture clothing, shows and protests. It’ll also remember some of Sports Banger’s commissioned pieces for artists such as Skepta, Chainz, Samantha Morton and David Hoyle, along with an archive of the bootlegging pieces on which the collective was founded.
Essays in the book come from the likes of Jeremy Deller, Anastasiia Fedorova, and Nathalie Khan.
“The book is an of-our-times hybrid of political comment, DIY fashion and proud class consciousness,” its description reads.
Releasing on December 5, Jonny Banger’s Sports Banger: Lifestyles of the Poor, Rich and Famous is available pre-order now for $57 USD (£45 GBP).
