At just 18 years old, Andrew Mok, better known as Drew or Offgod, has made a name for himself as a young creative trailblazing in the realm of 3D printing design. The Hong Kong-based artist has now placed his focus on becoming a Creative Director of his own clothing label established in 2021, “Bandage Boy.”

Taking over BELOWGROUND, Offgod debuted Bandage Boy’s first collection which builds on the artist turned designers aesthetic influenced by Japanese manga and Western cartoon illustrations. Working closely with his older brother Tate Mok, Offgod developed a color palette of earthy neutral-toned sweatshirts, T-shirts, pants, and accessories.

The display for the debut collection expresses the aesthetic universe of Bandage Boy. Offgod presented the pop-up experience by designing everything from the clothing rack down to the individual hangers, and an installation that marks his largest artistic figure to date.

Hypebeast sat down with Offgod at Bandage Boy’s debut to discuss his artistry, developing his clothing brand, and being recognized by Pharrell Williams. Catch the interview with Offgod below.

Is there a specific moment that you remember in your past that ignited your interest in design?

I don’t think there was a specific moment. But I was really into design and art from the start. My brother was also into art and I was really engaged and exposed to a lot of artistic stuff at a young age. And it really just stuck with me, that sort of built my interest in art in general. But with fashion, it’s more like, I’ve sort of explored that on my own. Arts in general, I think it just derived from childhood experiences and having artistic people around me.

If you were to describe your aesthetic sensibility in three words, what would those words be?

Organic, sharp, and flowy. That would be how I describe my art personally. Whenever I give direction to my brother to sculpt designs that’s the kind of outlook I would use.

How would you explain the first collection from Bandage Boy?

Even though I designed it a few years ago, it’s sort of my first step in the world of clothing. Before I was focussing on other things, but now that I’m out of school I have time to finally drop it. It’s just a good introduction to my abilities as an artist, even with the installation we tried to do something crazy. We wanted to just make the name Bandage Boy mean more than just clothes, so we just wanted everything to be really unique, the aesthetic has to be clean, and very easily recognizable when someone looks at it.

You had a moment with Pharrell during Art Basel Hong Kong, can you touch on how that felt to be recognized by such an iconic figure?

Still feels like a dream, to be honest. It’s such a crazy moment for me. Because for me I never really expected my art to go this far. It was always just a hobby, that’s always been my mindset, just having fun while I’m doing it. So just being able to start on a social media app and being able to meet such a big influence on fashion and music, is so rewarding. It inspired me to do more and try harder. I think it’s interactions like these where just take a step back and think about how much your work means to some people.
