Hermès continues to reign as the most sought-after luxury handbag purveyor, according to data from Google search volume and Instagram sourced by Slingo. The French label’s Birkin takes the top seat as the most coveted designer bag across the globe, having raked in average monthly searches of 159,208 between 2020 and 2023.

Even with the Brikin’s astronomical price tag, the bag’s popularity has not seen a decline; in fact, searches for the bag have only increased over the last three years. In 2020, the famous handbag saw average monthly searches of 149,000; and in 2023, that figure has climbed 19% to 159,208.

The exclusive bag’s pricing ranges across five to six figures, with the most affordable iterations donning price tags of at least $10,000 USD. On the more expensive side, the diamond Himalayan Birkin 30, which is made from crocodile skin and diamonds, was purchased for $450,000 USD last year.

This month, searches for the bag skyrocketed further, following the death of Jane Birkin, the French actress and singer who the high-end accessory is named after.

Following the Brikin, Slingo’s report found that the Louis Vuitton Neverfull ranks second, with average monthly searches of 126,629, and Gucci’s Marmont bag takes third place, with 82, 375 average monthly searches.

In more fashion news, Stüssy tapped Sean Paul for an honorary T-shirt collaboration.
