Stormzy and RAYE's New Single "The Weekend" Is a Flirtatious Love Affair
Two of South London’s finest.
UK rap star Stormzy has connected with R&B songstress, RAYE, to present a brand-new and flirtatious record titled “The Weekend.”
Since Stormzy released his critically-acclaimed album, This Is What I Mean, the Croydon-raised musician has been keeping busy. And while Big Mike explained what he’s been getting up to outside of his music career in a recent interview with Hypebeast, the rapper has also been regaining his dominance as an artist, having just appeared on Mahalia’s IRL album following a high-profile collaboration with Fredo.
Now, his latest single with RAYE sees the duo play the role of a couple expressing the unique ways in which they admire each other. The record opens with RAYE outlining how the pair first met before Stormzy’s sentimental verse expresses all of the finer things he loves about his girl.
Underpinned by a series of R&B-styled drum sequences and silky melodies, “The Weekend” highlights how both artists have evolved throughout their careers, while also allowing the pair to show off their biggest musical strengths.
