Sony is building on its 1000X series with the new WF-1000XM5 earbuds. As the latest model to join the lineup, the earbuds tie together audio upgrades from previous iterations in a sleek, wireless model.

Among the improvements coming to the 1000X are better noise canceling capabilities, with the headphones now functioning to reduce external noise from low to high frequencies, and overall better call quality. Sony also says that within the buds, the mics have been replaced with a higher-quality version and a driver unit specifically designed to define vocals.

It all comes packaged in a compact, glossy earbud that fits snugly into one’s ear. The tips are crafted out of an elastic polyurethane foam material so as to avoid letting in outside noise and lending itself to a secure feel.

For the WF-1000XM5, Sony tapped one of its own signees, musical powerhouse Miguel. The partnership kicks off Sony’s “For The Music” campaign, which will roll out wireless speakers and professional headphones and microphones in the future.

“As a music lover and a music creator, the WF-1000XM5 earbuds really surprised me in terms of bass, clarity, and overall dynamic range. I enjoy the ability to personalize and craft my own sound, and these earbuds deliver an authentic music listening experience,” Miguel said. “Plus, the noise canceling gets rid of any unwanted noise.”

Sony’s WF-1000XM5 earbuds are available in black and silver colorways and can be pre-ordered online now for $299 USD.
