Perte D'ego Pre-Fall 2023 Upholds the Art of Embroidery

Dubbed “A Tuscan Getaway,” the collection fashions life in the Italian countryside.

For Pre-Fall 2023, Indian menswear label Perte D’ego put its penchant for artisanal hand embroidery on full display, covering all sorts of laid-back silhouettes with artful adornments made by skilled craftsmen. The collection, titled “A Tuscan Getaway,” sees creative director Utkarsh Mithas articulate “the way of life in the Italian countryside,” weaving vivid depictions of the area’s natural scenes into an array of sharply-tailored garments.

Like previous collections, the designer’s initial mood board was filled with vintage travel photographs, many of which centered on Tuscany’s lush rolling hills, its rich artistic legacy and its roots in the Italian Renaissance. Translating to fashion, many of the designs make literal references to these images: jackets feature all-over embroidery of flower-laden cobblestone streets; button-down shirts flaunt countryside-inspired emblems, and shirt-short sets pay homage to the region’s wildlife, with illustrations of the animal kingdom. Overall, each piece makes a statement in its own right.

Notably, Perte D’ego does not outsource to factories for manufacturing; instead, the imprint hires artisans on permanent contracts to produce each collection in its own studio. With an intimate approach to design, Mithas notes that many pieces in this collection will require five to six days to be handcrafted upon order.

Perte D’ego’s Pre-Fall 2023 collection “A Tuscan Getaway” is now available to shop on the designer’s webstore. Take a look at the range in the gallery above.

In more fashion news, Prada was named the official partner for the Chinese Women’s National Football Team.
