In their second weekend of release, Greta Girwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer continue to post massive figures at the global box office.

Over the weekend, Barbie earned $93 million USD at the domestic box office and $122.2 million USD from international theaters, pushing the massively-marketed pic’s total to more than $775 million USD worldwide, since its release.

Meanwhile, Oppenheimer scored $46 million USD at the domestic box office and $72.4 million USD from international markets, moving its grand tally past $400 million USD. Together, Barbie and Oppenheimer have swiftly cleared the $1 billion USD threshold in under two weeks.

Paul Dergarabedian, Comscore’s senior media analyst, said Barbie and Oppenheimer‘s joint success is “a touchstone moment for movies, moviegoers and movie theaters,” in a statement to AP News. He added, “Having two movies from rival studios linked in this way and both boosting each other’s fortunes — both box-office wise and it terms of their profile — I don’t know if there’s a comp for this in the annals of box-office history.”

Notably, Girwig’s film is already seeing an uptick in repeat ticket purchases. According to Jeff Goldstein, distribution chief for Warner Bros., roughly 12% of sales can be attributed to people returning to see the film in theaters for a second time.

Barbie‘s second-weekend domestic figures rank behind only Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther, Jurassic World and The AvengersOppenheimer, meanwhile, is now the second highest-grossing R-rated biopic in history, falling behind Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper.
