Balenciaga Adds Screws to the Extreme Tire-Wearing Bouncer Sneaker
The Bouncer — not Defender — is more intimidating than ever.
Balenciaga isn’t just changing its aesthetic, it’s changing the name of its products. Welcome to the very familiar Balenciaga Defender Bouncer, now coming with screws embedded into the shoe’s bulbous sole unit.
The blacked-out pair is made using a leather-free concoction of mesh and nylon across the upper, favoring overlapping panels and worn-out detailing for something clean or simplistic, per Demna‘s signature aesthetic. Balenciaga branding works the toe bumper and heel portion, featuring on both ends alongside the EU shoe size — again, all classic House elements.
However, what is new is the inclusion of screws. They can be found placed all over and between the sections that define the extreme tire sole unit, adding an even heavier-duty touch to the already mighty stompers. A 15mm arch, long laces, and a pull tab round out the pair.
