Tokujin Yoshioka Designs New Issey Miyake "O-Bold" Bangle Watch
Inspired by the shape of water.

Building upon his “O” watch series which was created in 2011 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Issey Miyake WATCH, designer Tokujin Yoshioka introduces an update to the signature timepiece collection titled “O-Bold.”
“O” which references “eau,” French for water, is based on the concepts of the “shape of water” and “transparent time.” The minimalist watch face and bracelet made of Yoshioka’s specialty transparent materials, give off the appearance of time trapped in a body of formless water.
The “O-Bold” series sees the width of the bangle widened from the original version to emphasize transparency while the arm circumference has been made smaller than the current “O” series. Weighing in at just 39 grams, the watch is said to be so comfortable you forget you’re wearing it. Other specs include water resistance up to 100 feet and a battery life of approximately 3 years.
Tokukin Yoshioka is an internationally acclaimed artist known for his works related to light and nature. His recent works include designing the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Torch and he currently has works displayed in permanent collections at museums around the world including MoMA and Centre Pompidou in Paris.
The new Issey Miyake “O-Bold” watch will be available from April 4 online and at select retailers for ¥22,000 JPY ($166 USD). Color options so far include “Smoked” and “Clear.”
