Timberland Taps CLOT’s Edison Chen for Collab 1 of Future73 Project

Timberland has launched a new project titled “Future73” to celebrate the legacy of its Original Boot for its 50th birthday. But what makes the new project special is its partnerships with global creatives to help reimagine the signature silhouette alongside offering new apparel pieces. To kick off the series of six collaborations, Timberland has enlisted CLOT’s Edison Chen for Drop 1.

For the debut collab, Chen brings CLOT’s “East Meets West” and circular-oriented design style to Timberland. Leading the charge is the Premium 6-Inch Boot appearing in deep olive with tiger stripe detailing and the Buddhist proverb: “If this exists, that exists; if this ceases to exist, that also ceases to exist.” The key element of the boots is its environmentally sound construction with at least 50% of the boot being made from regeneratively farmed materials. Specifically, 70% of the leather upper and 55% of the rubber outsole comes from farms focused on regenerative agriculture.

Elsewhere in the collaboration is a Kimono Chore Coat, overshirt, quilted vest, quilt wrap, hoodie and t-shirt in military-inspired “grape leaf”  – blending both street and outdoor style notes. “Being able to work with Timberland on Future73 has been an exciting adventure,” said Chen. “Trying to figure out ways to create products more intellectually; from a perspective of loving the Earth; that not only speaks to the kids but also to the kids’ kids.”
