Sacai FW23 Dissects Traditional Attire for the Modern Age

Known for her deconstructed take on hybridized contemporary wear, Chitose Abe has returned to Paris Fashion Week to debut her all-new Fall/Winter 2023 collection. The offering delivered something different from sacai, leaving dismantled attire behind to create shifting womenswear made for post-pandemic times.
The Covid-19 pandemic proved revolutionary for Abe, serving as a stable refresh that resulted in more elevated garments with an elegant outlook. For FW23, the designer dissected the traditional wardrobe with a shifting mentality and began her Parisian showcase with a paneled trench coat with colliding pinstriped and plain black textiles. Then, the former moved onto ruffled maxi dresses with sheer coatings, while others donned layered craftsmanship and removable shoulder straps.
A utilitarian breeze dominated the collection, nonetheless kept upheaved and elegant for office-ready outings. Cropped blazers featured riffled underpinnings split into three sections matched with pleated skirts and skintight leather boots. Dynamic black and grey tones overran the collection with a serious attitude, contrasted by lively pastels that made their way onto unlit attire. Faux fur ensembles were made a staple this season, and sacai embraced the trend with its version of fuzzy outerwear accented by silk ribbons and leather decor. Furthermore, frayed tweed co-ords worked alongside polka-dotted bodysuits and unfinished formalwear that retained its tailored outlines ahead of reshaping, completing the offering with defiant tradition.
