Previewed alongside its boldly exotic SS23 collection at Milan Fashion Week last year, MSGM has finally launched its first-ever eco-friendly sneaker line. The new range debuts on the market with the “FG1” sneakers – named after Fantastic Green 1 – coming in high and low top iterations.

For its design, the Italian brand playfully mirrors the sneaker’s assortment of sustainable materials within a raw, nature-inspired look. This approach can be seen in the statement upper, made from layers of jagged-edge VegSkin swatches that resemble overlapping leaves, or ripples in a stream. To emphasize the basketball silhouette, these panels are sewn together with exposed double stitching.

At the base of the sneaker, MSGM molds a recycled pre-consumer rubber waste material called ReRubber, which features three lateral indentations. Smaller components – such as the laces and lining – are built with recycled plastic RePet fibers, rounding off the carefully considered sustainable construction.

Each eco-friendly material making up the body of the sneaker is sourced by ACBC for its organic feel and natural textures. But most importantly, the VegSkin, ReRubber and RePet are specially selected by the lab as they pose very little effect on the environment in their manufacturing process – minimizing Co2 emissions and encouraging biodiversity.

Take a closer look at the spectrum of striking colorways in the gallery above.

MSGM’s “FG1” sneakers are available to buy on its website and in global stores.
