MM6 Maison Margiela Taps CHENPENG For a Sartorial Puffer Capsule
Featuring three imaginative, all-black designs.
MM6 Maison Margiela has teamed up with London-based fashion label CHENPENG for a collaborative Fall/Winter 2023 capsule collection. The range, which blends the labels’ mutual pillars of “wit, creativity and outerwear savoir-faire,” lets craftsmanship take the wheel on an all-black color palette.
An inventive puffer purveyor, CHENPENG is best known for its impressively colorful catalog of coats, so it only makes sense that this collaboration centers itself around the signature shape. Across the collection, the two brands champion experimentation by transforming the archetypal silhouette and its usual textiles with a sartorial edge.
The capsule features three puffer designs. Among them, there’s a nylon, textured, parka-length coat with a built-in scarf component, a cropped coat with contract faux leather sleeves and a faux leather gilet boasting contrast paneling and high-shine nylon. Each padded silhouette challenges traditional design codes, embracing MM6’s “directional yet wardrobe-minded perspective” and pushing the limit on what exactly a contemporary puffer jacket can be.
