'Counter-Strike 2' Rumored to Arrive Soon
The sequel to ‘Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’ may finally be announced this month.

Counter-Strike hit the net in 1999 and gaming hasn’t been the same ever since. Valve has iterated upon the franchise with classic versions such as 1.6 and Global Offensive, the latter of which led the charge in breaking Steam’s all-time high of nearly 28 million concurrent users just over a year ago. Across the series’ history: rumors, leaks and memes have continuously pointed at an ever-elusive Counter-Strike 2 sequel, only for no such title to launch. However, it may now finally be time.
In a report from Richard Lewis, Counter-Strike 2 is nearly ready for public beta testing. At the start of the month, an NVIDIA driver update was discovered to have executables titles “csgos2.exe” and “cs2.exe,” prompting many to wonder if Valve was preparing something. Following this, anonymous sources connected with Lewis to share that a new title is en route for a public beta launch by the beginning of April. It was then explained that it would run on the Source 2 engine with 128 tick matchmaking servers that match the franchise’s rival Valorant.
Stay tuned for more information as this possible release unfolds in the coming weeks.
Something weird just happened. Latest NVIDIA drivers introduced support for unknown app executables called “csgos2.exe” and “cs2.exe”. Why project is called Counter-Strike 2 and what are you cooking @csgo? https://t.co/U9YKlAjwgy pic.twitter.com/PU8Op9uGLq
