Reese Cooper Launches RCI Reserve Upcycling Project
Previewing the first collection for the series.
After offering an early look at his upcoming Merrell 1TRL collaboration, Reese Cooper has revealed the first collection from his new RCI Reserve upcycling project.
Using leftover materials from last season’s sampling and production, RCI toys with new ideas, delivering a comprehensive series of experimental garments. Fabrics upcycled for the project include everything from zippers and snaps to fabrics and ribbing. Each piece is individually finished with a Reserve label which is marked by hand on the day of completion. For RCI Reserve, Reese Cooper lays out three rules for the collection:
1. Fabric cannot be used for the same purpose it was originally intended for
2. No new patterns can be created
3. All pieces find a way to incorporate a raw natural canvas patch pocket
Highlighted in the series is a broad range of layering options including work jackets, denim sets, hooded leather jackets, cargo pants, and long coats which all have been given RCI’s signature hook attachment and other utilitarian details.
RCI Reserve Collection 1 will launch first at the brand’s NYC pop-up this weekend before releasing online.
