Gerrit Jacob's FW23 Collection "SCUM" Is Packed With Youthful Optimism
Boasting sinister graphics that tell a tale of hostility.
Emerging designer Gerrit Jacob has been everywhere as of late, establishing himself as one to watch due to his billowing graphic designs infused with futuristic identity. The German creative now gears up to present his all-new Fall/Winter 2023 collection, titled “SCUM.”
Jacob’s eponymous label looks to start a conversation around queer stereotypes while highlighting youthful tones and striking designs with a mind of their own. For FW23, the designer welcomes us into his own eccentric homeland, seeing luxury craftsmanship and compelling imagery collide.
Featuring 15 distinguishable looks, bold hues and otherworldly motifs dominate the collection. The first glimpse sets the tone for what is to come, presenting a cropped leather jacket with exaggerated sleeves and corresponding baggy bottoms. Both garments are printed with eerie animal graphics that convey Jacob’s navigation through aggression. Asymmetrical tops and motorcycle-inspired ensembles follow suit, while daunting sweatsuits accompany zip-up shirting and flowing trousers in noticeable primary tones.
Puffed outerwear is matched with roomy denim garments and illustrative mesh tops, while sinister visuals adorn every look partnered with bandanas that preview supernatural body parts.
